Research. Define. Build relationships.

Grünenthal is a global leader in pain management and related diseases. As a part of MVP we had to share an solution of GRT web ecosystem which was facing poor SEO optimization, usability challenges and interaction barriers, limiting its effectiveness for healthcare professionals and patients.

01
CHALLENGES

The current visibility impacted the share of search and audience engagement, hindering brand credibility. Access to medical content was a huge gap felt by our clients.

01

How can we enhance SEO to improve discoverability and drive traffic?

02

How can we address interaction barriers to ensure seamless access to information and services?

03

What defines a good portal experience that enhances engagement and satisfaction for all users?

UNDERSTANDING THE LANDSCAPE

This project needed a lot of research to understand the context for which we were designing, user needs and product offerings. As a part of our research, we did contextual inquires, competitive analysis, in-depth user interviews, conducted virtual workshop with the clients.

We conducted UX audits to help us to increase SEO and formed strategies around it. As this was a MVP for a unified web portal for Health care Professionals and patients.

DEFINING

How might we create an intuitive, insightful and actionable dashboard to help businesses meet their goals?

The interviews were conducted by my lead and I, with the rest of our team moderating the sessions. The interviews helped us create a holistic view of the users needs, wants & aspirations. We were also able to gauge the involvement of the application and the dashboard in their daily lives.

The goal of these interviews was to identify pain points and derive key opportunities for us to create a strong product with high functionality and enhanced user experience. During the interview, the focus was on understanding the role of the individual, their relationship with GRT, interaction and product usage and gaps and opportunities.

INSIGHTS

 Information-rich Dashboard

The level of filtration of data and categories needs to be more detailed in order to provide detailed insights. The way in which this information is prioritised and organised needs to be evaluated.

01
02

Streamlining Communication

There was huge communication gap between the medical reps, Healthcare professionals (HCPs). Users should be able to interact with each other or send quick messages using the dashboard.

03

Smart System

Users long for a smart system that can provide them with detailed insights, help them understand the information easily and allows them to understand and act quickly.

UNDERSTANDING THE DATA

I conducted an extensive review of articles, research papers, and scientific studies on solar panels and their adoption in India. To focus my findings on the specific problem statement, I developed a research strategy that allowed me to streamline and filter the insights I gathered.

Additionally, I engaged with both current users and potential adopters through interviews and surveys, further enriching my understanding of their experiences and needs. This comprehensive approach has provided a solid foundation for my project, ensuring it is informed by both existing research and direct user feedback.

USER PERSONAS

We created user personas based on our interviews to help us keep the goals, needs and pain points of users in sight. Each individual's demands from the platform are very different and therefore we spent a lot of time trying to understand the demands of their jobs really well.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

Based on the original design of the GRT web pages, we restructured the platform's architecture. The previous version had numerous pages that were poorly organized and difficult for users to discover, impacting usability and efficiency.

Pain Points – 20.png
No common web strategy (Global to local)
Unclear ownership of the websites at global/local
Key messages not aligned, e.g., % of chronic pain patients
No clear analytics global vs local websites
one fits it all approach
WIREFRAMES

We developed wireframes for each screen of the GRT platform and secured client approval before progressing to the visual design phase. While the current dashboard offers extensive data, it relies heavily on users to interpret it and take action. To address this, we focused on making the system smarter by delivering actionable insights directly to users. This empowers healthcare professionals and administrators to make timely, informed decisions, such as improving patient engagement or optimizing resource allocation.

Delivering

Everything You Need,
In One Place

The dashboard homepage serves as a one-stop hub for healthcare professionals and caregivers to gain a quick overview of key performance metrics across the platform. It is designed to adapt dynamically based on user roles and permissions.

The interface is divided into two columns: the left column displays graphical insights, while the right column highlights the top-performing metrics for quick visibility and decision-making.

Medical Information at a glace

The GRT insights cards are dynamic, presenting relevant information tailored to the user’s role. These cards enhance discoverability, allowing users to explore additional functionalities of the platform.

The "Send a Message" card enables seamless communication, allowing users to connect with colleagues or share organization-wide announcements effectively.

Search made easy

The inventory management page in the GRT platform has been redesigned to minimize cognitive load for users. All action items have been reorganized for improved usability. A 'Search medical Information" bar at the top provides quick access to frequently used items, while a 'Apply Filters' tab in the top-right allows users to efficiently add filters, reducing clicks and effort.

Reflections

Come prepared

Working on diverse healthcare-related projects is one of the aspects I enjoy most about my role. However, entering new domains requires dedicated effort to understand their complexities. While research provides valuable insights, I also engaged with healthcare professionals and peers outside of work to gain a deeper understanding of the space.

Changing People's Lives

While the statement may seem dramatic, it reflects the reality of the situation. Previously, users faced long hours, extensive manual data entry, and outdated processes that were not suited for modern needs. Through the client feedback process, we saw their excitement as our designs showcased how they could transform workflows and positively impact their practices and patient care.

Hand in Hand

Our team developed both the Admin Dashboard and the core functionality for healthcare professionals to manage patient and operational data within the GRT platform. Although separate teams worked on these components, the process was highly collaborative. By understanding the workflows of healthcare professionals and the data they interact with, we were able to design an Admin Dashboard that seamlessly integrates with and supports the broader GRT ecosystem.

NEXT STEPS

01

Microinteractions

Due to our time constraint, we weren't able to actualise all of the ideas we had for interactions in the app. I especially wanted to create a celebratory animation when a team/user achieves their goal.

02

Third-Party Integrations

We explored various ideas to scale the GRT ecosystem and streamline workflows for healthcare professionals. This included the ability to integrate and install additional apps, enhancing the platform's flexibility and supporting a more efficient user experience.

03

User Testing

Once the product has been developed, it would be important for us to test the prototype with users so that we may take notes for the next version of the app.

04

Putting it in the Real World

To ensure healthcare professionals and administrators don’t waste time on extensive training, I aimed to develop an intuitive onboarding process and tooltips within the GRT platform to guide users through key features and functionalities.
